Our Foundational Course

The Art of Leading Oneself (ALO) is a four hour course unlike anything most people have ever experienced.  Rather than the standard "steps to leadership" often provided in leadership courses, ALO gets to the heart of why we do what we do.  Leading people must begin with understanding the human psychology and there's no better place to start than by looking in the mirror.







The "Art of leading Oneself" teaches that to become a better leader, you must start by leading yourself first


The Art of Leading Oneself provides companies with a competitive advantage by helping develop their people and teaching their leaders how to bring out a better version of themselves and others. 


Because organizational culture reflects the people within the company, this course provides targeted instruction for how each employee can improve personally and be a positive part of improving the overall organizational health.

What's in the course?


  1. Heart of culture

Organizational culture sends a message both inside and outside the company by illuminating company values, priorities, and most important, culture transmits a message regarding to what degree the company values people.


2. Personal Bias

Whenever we allow our own bias to control our thinking and our leadership, we risk alienating innovation, creativity and ultimately better company solutions.


3. Consequence of Power

Power can be intoxicating and no one is immune from its potential damage.  Learning the psychology of power from the perspective of those who have it as well as those subject to it increases the probability that power will enhance company operations rather than damage it.

4. Self-induced noise

 Successful companies must keep important things first.  Unfortunately, when the “noise” in your organization becomes too loud, priorities can quickly get out of balance.  Controlling the noise is vital in the process of  sustaining a healthy organizational culture.


5. Personal identity

All of us want to be part of something bigger than ourselves. When we build an identity that is based in part on the positive aspects of our work, we naturally increase our personal commitment, loyalty, and trust to the company objectives.

6. Individual Character

 This is the fundamental requirement of a healthy organizational culture…we must start by looking in the mirror and asking ourselves what part our individual character plays in the overall culture of the organization.


7. Effective Communication

 Leaders must understand not only how their personal communication skills should be continually improved, but they must further understand that “how” they communicate can determine the success or failure of a company’s primary objectives.



The most important principle comes at the end with the acronym ECHO…

Empathy, Charity, Humility, Optimism. 

When fully adopted throughout an organization, this ECHO expands business, increases employee commitment and loyalty, and further develops a high level of shared trust...both internally and with your customers.
